What Is TUN Mode in FlClash and When Should You Use It?
TUN mode is commonly used to handle traffic from apps that do not follow system proxy settings. It may require extra permissions and behaves differently across platforms.
This site organizes FlClash download, setup, configuration, and troubleshooting information by platform.
When TUN mode helps
Consider TUN mode when some apps ignore system proxy settings, command-line tools are not configured for proxy use, or you need routing closer to the system level. Availability depends on your OS, permissions, and FlClash version.
Before enabling it
- Confirm that the platform supports the required network permission.
- Check for conflicts with other VPN or proxy drivers.
- Make sure your profile includes usable nodes and DNS settings.
- Record the current network state so you can roll back if needed.
How to verify
After enabling TUN mode, test a browser, command-line tools, and apps that do not follow system proxy settings. If only the browser changes, system proxy may be responsible. If command-line tools also change as expected, TUN mode is more likely active.
Risk notes
Incorrect TUN settings may cause DNS problems, LAN access issues, or app connectivity failures. Production tutorials should be tested on each target OS instead of copying one platform's steps to all platforms.
